Bulk Geofence Upload

Bulk Geofence Upload allows you to upload a .CSV file with the details for any number of Geofences at once. See section below on Formatting the .CSV file with Latitude & Longitude and you can download a .CSV with the headers here: Bulk-Geofence-Upload.csv

You can also now upload a Bulk Geofence using Physical Addresses instead of Latitude and Longitude. See section below on Formatting the .CSV file with Physical Addresses and you can download a .CSV with the headers here: https://prod-multi-channel-images.s3.amazonaws.com/Bulk-Geofence-PhysicalAddress-Upload.csv

To Bulk Upload Geofences, go to the Map.

Select either a Device to upload the Geofences to an individual Device, or go to a Tag to upload the Geofences to a Tag (and all the Devices on that Tag).

Once the Device or Tag is selected, select Layers in the top right of the screen:

Then select "+ Add New" or "Add Fence":

Finally, select the Bulk Upload Icon:

A window will open to allow you to find and select your formatted (see below) .CSV file with your Bulk Geofence information. Select the file and click "Open".

Your Geofences are now uploaded!

Formatting the .CSV for Bulk Upload (Using Lat & Long)

  • When uploading, make sure to have the Headers as the top line of the .CSV.
  • Each line should have the Comma Separated Values for 1 individual fence
  • TRUE / FALSE values must be fully capitalized
  • There may be blank cells (blank values separated by commas) but should not be any blank lines
  • If entering multiple values, for example multiple phone numbers to Enter/Exit Alert Endpoints, surround the values with quotations " and separate each value inside the quotes with commas ,
    • i.e. "2033331111,email@example.com" or "email1@234.com,email2@234.com,1213435566"

The Headers for the .CSV file are:

Label,Type,Center Lat,Center Lng,Size,Waypoint,Icon,Color,Description,Enter Alert,Enter Alert Endpoints,Exit Alert,Exit Alert Endpoints,Hide Name,Hide Shadows,Hide Icon

An example of a properly formatted file ready for upload:

Label,Type,Center Lat,Center Lng,Size,Waypoint,Icon,Color,Description,Enter Alert,Enter Alert Endpoints,Exit Alert,Exit Alert Endpoints,Hide Name,Hide Shadows,Hide Icon

Formatting the .CSV for Bulk Upload (Using Physical Address)

  • Make sure addresses are a plain line of text that contains no commas or periods. Some examples of valid addresses are: "100 Reserve rd Danbury CT 06810" & "123-51 E 50th St New York NY 10022"

The Headers for the .CSV file are:

Label,Type,Physical Adress,Size,Waypoint,Icon,Color,Description,Enter Alert,Enter Alert Endpoints,Exit Alert,Exit Alert Endpoints,Hide Name,Hide Shadows,Hide Icon

An example of a properly formatted file ready for upload:

Label,Type,Physical Address,Size,Waypoint,Icon,Color,Description,Enter Alert,Enter Alert Endpoints,Exit Alert,Exit Alert Endpoints,Hide Name,Hide Shadows,Hide Icon

Size Options:

Enter a number for Size greater than 4. Each unit of size is 1 Decameter, or about 32 ft. A Size of 4 is about 131 feet. A Size of 100 would be 1 Kilometer across.

Remember: for a Geofence to work properly it has to be large enough that entering & exiting devices will reliably report within the fence once they have entered it. If devices are expected to be moving while they travel through the fence, it would be wise to make the fence larger along their path of travel so as to ensure they reliably report within the fence before exiting it.

Valid Color Options:

black   silver   gray   white   maroon   red   purple   fuchsia   green   lime   olive   yellow   navy   blue   teal   aqua   orange

Valid Icon Options:

A list of valid icon options (car, bus, truck, etc) can be viewed by selecting the Icons button on any Geofence or after selecting "Add Fence" :
