OBD 3G Troubleshooting
In order to determine what issue may be preventing your device from reporting please see troubleshooting instructions below.
Please confirm that your MT-OBD is securely connected directly to the OBD port of the vehicle.
If so then please complete the following steps:
Remove the device from the OBD port for 10 seconds or longer then reconnect it directly to the port.
To test for power, with the device connected to the OBD port of the vehicle, check to make sure that the lights on the device are illuminating.
Please note that if it is not very dark near the OBD port you may need to cup your hand under the device and look for the light to reflect off the palm of your hand.
If you do not see any lights illuminating whatsoever within 10 to 30 seconds then the device has no power.
To test to see if this is an issue with the device or with the vehicle, connect the device directly to the OBD port of a different vehicle and see if any lights illuminate.
If upon connecting the device to another vehicle you still have no lights then it is likely that the problem is with the device and it would need to be evaluated to determine the cause. (If this does happen you may try a third vehicle to remove the slight chance that you have tried it in two vehicles that do not have power to the OBD port)
If upon connecting the device to another vehicle you do see lights then it is likely that the problem is with the first vehicle.
When an OBD port is not supplying power to the device the cause is usually a blown fuse. Replacing the fuse will usually fix the problem.
If you do see lights illuminating then please look for the blue light, and follow the steps below.
MT-OBD - Lights
The lights on your OBD device can provide useful information for diagnosing any potential problems with your device. The lights may be dim, so when checking them, it can be useful to shade the device so the lights may be seen more clearly.
Blue - The most important light for troubleshooting is the Blue light. This light indicates Cell signal to the device, which the device uses to transmit its live and recorded GPS data. The Blue lights behavior differs based on device type. To know how to properly diagnose your device, use the first two letters or numbers of your device's serial number and the list below:
NL - X0 - XL - XN
The Blue light blinking once every second means the device is searching for Cell signal. A light blinking once every three seconds means the device has a good Cell signal.
A1 - AS - N4 - NJ - F5 - FN - FT - FW - TY - Y6
If Blue light alone is not blinking means the device is searching for Cell signal. A light blinking once every second means the device has a good cell signal.
Green - This light indicates GPS Satellite signal, as well as power to the device. A solid light means the device is searching for signal. A blinking light means the device has a GPS Lock. No light means the device may not be receiving power.
Yellow - This light indicates ignition power to the OBD port. A flickering light means ignition ON. No light means ignition OF
